Whitney Stewart

Since graduating from UCO in 2018, I have worked as a 6th grade ELA teacher in Putnam City and Norman. I currently teach at Longfellow Middle School where I also serve as the ELA department chair and a mentor for new teachers. I routinely provide professional development to other educators related to active learning strategies, co-teaching, and literacy skills. Prior to my time in the classroom, I worked for the Oklahoma City Zoo where I lead weekly summer camps and taught kids about animal conservation. I got to work with some amazing animal ambassadors including western hog nose snakes, desert tortoises, chinchillas, and a banded armadillo named Poppy. I spend a lot of my free time on roadtrips following my favorite band around and meeting new people who share my love of rock n’ roll. When I’m not on the road, I love watching Godzilla movies, spending time with my dog Cooper, and spending time with my nieces Charlee and Baylee.
